Leaving Capital One

For the last year, I have been working at Capital One in the mortgage line of business.  I only say this to preface why there was such a huge gap between posts.

Capital One is very brand conscious.  They have built a brand that is recognized, respected, and highly desirable to work for.  As such, in order to blog or speak at conferences, I was required to get approval on everything first.  It was not a terrible process, but a little on the lengthy side, and as such, I just focused my energies elsewhere.

With the news of Capital One exiting the mortgage market, I have left this great company.  I have nothing bad to say about the situation.  The layoffs happening are for business and financial reasons and are being handled in a respectful and supportive way.  This is by far and away the best separation I have ever had with a company and it is demonstrative of the great care Capital One takes with its associates and why they are a top place to work.

And with that set of events, I will be blogging once again with almost a year of stories and thoughts I have been keeping notes on.
